About

Hi there. My name is Daniel m. Davis, and I write/create the Monster Commute comic.

I started this site with the goal of humbly sharing what I know about marketing and running an “artist business”, with the hope of learning more myself.

I’m not going to focus on the art or craft of making a comic here; I’ll leave that up to other experts in the field. However, I will be talking about the business of running a webcomic, and how to maximise your visitors and success.

Your ideas and articles are welcome, too! Please feel free to comment with your experiences, and if you have an article you’d like to see here, please feel free to submit it.

  1. I have a bit of news that you might be interested in mentioning on Webcomic Marketing.

I just started a new series of articles, interviews, etc. that give insight into the craft of longform webcomics. The first interview is with Kory Bing of Skin Deep, found here: http://growlybeast.com/webcomics/longform/skin-deep-kory-bing/

    Original announcement post: http://growlybeast.com/webcomics/i-want-to-interview-you/

    Thanks!

  2. Great site! No clue if this of interest (it’s pertaining mostly to print comic publishers), but I’ve got some articles up on internet marketing for comics on my website. Figured I’d post the link to see if any of that stuff helps.

Great tips I am about to start making a webcomic. I have been reading them alot at a site inkoutbreak.com I dont see them mentioned here but I think they are new. Seeing all these great comics online I figured maybe I should try making my own. This is the easiest to read advice about webcomics, thank you!

  5. Just wanted to say–as somebody looking to start kicking this whole webcomic thing in its metaphorical booty and do something real with it, I have been reading your articles and absorbing them like delicious nourishment for my brain meats.

By which I mean, this is some good stuff here, and I am very glad I found it. Thank you, kind sir, for publishing it!

  6. I stumbled onto this site by accident, poring over the internet with the intention of starting my new year right – by researching how to sell interest in my comics in an ever-increasing webcomic market. Thanks for the great tips and tutorials, I really appreciate the detail you went into on your real life experiences.
